La rivière Gatineau est un enjeu électoral | The Gatineau River is an Election IssueA packed house at the blacksheep, Wakefield on August 27, 2012 let their potential representatives know how important the Gatineau River is to them.

Although it would’ve been a perfect opportunity for the incumbent to proclaim that she would use all her powers to halt the current project all she really said was

‘you have been heard’ ;

‘I’ve been working behind the scenes’;

‘the project hasn’t been announced yet’;

‘alternatives are being investigated’.

There is also a large public swimming area under a heritage wooden bridge and the shoreline should be cleaned there as well. Awareness Raising Event - Thursday 25 October, 2012 @ Elmdale Tavern, Hintonburg, Ottawa

Gatineau Hills Irish Party band “the Doggers” help Save the Gatineau River

Awareness raising party at the Elmdale House Tavern, Ottawa Canada (Thursday, 25 October, 2012 8:30 pm)

 focused on keeping inadequately treated septic sludge out of the Gatineau River.

The much loved and incredibly clean Gatineau River faces an Irreversible, man-made POLLUTION THREAT.Party for your river & help fund the lawyers.

Background: The Gatineau River is a potential source of drinking water for over 1 million people downstream and is a main tributary to the Ottawa River, a River that has a nuclear reactor upstream from the Ottawa-Gatineau metropolitan area and already suffers massive sewage overflows in the hundreds of millions of liters ever year.

Currently the regional septic sludge from the MRC des Collines is being adequately treated at Cheneville and Ottawa and a major treatment facility is going to be ready in Quyon (Pontiac Municipality) soon.

Interesting times – but remember – if the project isn’t cancelled IT’S ON!! – a delayed announcement isn’t the same as a cancelled project.
